Dhaka, Sep 23 (Just News): Minority communities have been apprehending that incidents of violence and attacks on them might escalate with the next national elections getting nearer.

Bangladesh Hindu-Bouddha-Christian Oikya Parishad announced a programme to hold a mass rally at the Suhrawardy Udyan on September 28 to share their concerns centering the state, government and political alliances, the parishad’s General Secretary Rana Das Gupta said today.

Prof Emeritus Anisuzzaman will be the chief guest at the rally, he said at a press briefing in Dhaka's Jatiya Press Club in the morning.

Incidents of attacks on religious minorities and tribal communities have declined across the country but are still existing, he said.

Around 380 people of the minority community were attacked till August this year, he added.

Since 2016, the number of attacks and incidents of violence on the minority community people came down from 1471 to 1004 in 2017, the Oikya Parishad leaders said.
