Diplomats visit Rohingya camp

Cox’s Bazar, Dec 17 (Just News): Ambassadors, high commissioners and diplomats of concurrently accredited countries to Bangladesh with residences in New Delhi on Sunday visited Kutupalong Rohingya camp in Ukhia upazila to see the situation of Rohingyas on the ground.

The diplomats include ambassadors of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Portugal, Slovenia and Ukraine, high commissioners of Cyprus, Mauritius and Kenya as well as chargé d'affaires of Austria, Czech Republic and Ghana and second secretary of New Zealand High Commission in New Delhi.

The envoys went to the camp around 1:30pm.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali was present.

Earlier, the envoys discussed the Rohingya issue with and Deputy Commissioner of Cox's Bazar district Mohammad Ali Hossain around 11:30am when the DC informed them about various steps taken for the security, health services, foods and clothes, accommodation, communication system, sanitation and nutrition of the Myanmar's displaced nationals.

The envoys highly appreciated the Bangladesh government for giving shelter to such a huge number of Rohingyas.

Some 650,000 Rohingya have crossed from Myanmar into Bangladesh since August 25.
