Mahbub Talukder walks out of EC meeting again

Dhaka, Oct 15 (JustNews) : Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder has, once again, walked out of an Election Commission meeting after submitting a note of dissent just seven minutes into the meeting.

The Election Commission secretary and all election commissioners were present at the meeting that commenced around 11am, at Election Commission Secretariat in Dhaka’s Agargoan, on Monday.

However, it is unknown as to why Mahbub Talukder walked out of the meeting.

This is not the first time he as walked out of a congregation of the Election Commission.

He also left a meeting, earlier in August, by submitting note of dissent—opposing the EC’s decision to amend the Representation of the People Order (RPO) in order to use electronic voting machines (EVM) for the 11th national election.

The meeting, on Monday, was the commission’s 36th.

The commission convened to discuss the preparations for the 11th general polls.

They are also discussing the amendment of related rules and regulations—and related forms to include transgender people as the 3rd gender on the voter list.
