HC grants five-month bail to Mainul

Dhaka, Oct 21 (Just News): A Dhaka court summoned Mainul Hosein, an adviser to the 2007 caretaker government, in a case filed by writer, journalist Masuda Bhatti for insulting her on a television talk show.

Metropolitan magistrate Asaduzzman Noor asked Mainul to appear before the court on November 22.

Another court in Jamalpur issued arrest warrant against Mainul Hosein after a Tk 20,000-crore defamation case was filed against him for hurling abusive words at journalist Masuda Bhatti.

Jamalpur unit Juba Mahila League convener of Farzana Yasmin Lita filed the case with the local cognizance court.

Jamalpur senior judicial magistrate Soleiman Kabir took the case into cognizance and issued arrest warrant against Mainu.

On a Ekattar television’s talk show Ekattar Journal, Mainul Hoseinhd ahd termed Masuda Bhatti ‘characterless’.

Masuda Bhatti, acting editor of Dainik Amader Notun Somoy, and Sakhawat Hossain Shayanta were present at the talk show.

Mainul was connected to the talk show hosted by Mithila Farzana via video-conference.
