BNP ticket aspirant found dead

Dhaka, Nov 22 (Just News): A BNP leader from Jashore, who went missing from Paltan four days ago after coming to Dhaka to seek party ticket, has been found dead.

The body of Abu Bakar Abu was floating in the Buriganga River near the Faridabad dockyard on Tuesday afternoon.

Deceased Abu Bakar Abu, 50, was the chairman of Majidpur Union Parishad of Keshabpur and vice-president of Jashore district unit BNP, his nephew Ashikuzzaman told reporters after identifying the body.

He was also a nomination aspirant from BNP to contest the upcoming national polls from Jashore-6 constituency, local BNP leaders in Jashore said.

Dhaka South Keraniganj Police Station Officer-In-Charge Shah Jaman told The Daily Star that police recovered a floating body from Faridabad dockyard area of Buriganga River on Tuesday afternoon.

The relatives of the deceased today identified the body at the mortuary of Sir Salimullah Medical College, the morgue sources said.

Abu came to Dhaka a week ago to collect nomination form of BNP. He was "abducted" from Dhaka's Bijoynagar area on Sunday, Ashikuzzaman said.
