Road accidents kill 5, injure 55 in two districts

Dhaka, Nov 25 (Just News): Five people have been killed and 55 others injured in separate road accidents in two districts.

The accidents took place in Kushtia and Natore on Sunday morning.

In Kushtia, three people were killed and 25 others injured in two separate accidents.

A motorcycle rider named Masud, 55, was killed when a bus knocked it down Bhangabottola area on Kushtia-Meherpur highway around 10am and Khoksa Upazila at 4:30 am respectively.

Mirpur police station Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Abdul Aziz said the locals Masud took Mirpur Upazila Health Complex where the duty doctor declared him dead.

The body will be sent to Kushtia General Hospital for autopsy.

In another incident, two people --Abdul Kader, 65, and Mahtab Uddin, 50, --were killed as a bus fell into a roadside ditch in Khoksha upazila when its driver lost his control over the steering.

The Officer-in-Charge of Khoksha police station ABM Mehedi Hasan told the Dhaka Tribune that the injured have been sent to the Khoksha Upazila Health Complex for primary treatment.

He said the bodies will be sent to Kushtia General Hospital morgue.

He added the bus driver fled the scene after the accident.

In Natore, two people were killed and 30 others injured in a collision between a lorry of Crown Cement Group and a bus of Alif-Lam-Meem Paribahan at Gunaihati area under Baraigram upazila around 10:30am.

Among the injured, four have been admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital while the others have been admitted to Natore Sadar Hospital and different local clinics.

As of filing the report, the deceased could not be identified Bonpara Highway police station OC Abdul Alim said.

He said they have informed the cement company about the accident.
