Dhaka, Nov 29 (Just News) : An accused in a murder case has been killed in a “gunfight” with police at Yearpur in Ashulia of Savar.
The incident took place early Thursday.
The deceased is Babul Mia, 27, son of Babar Ali Munshi of Teknimunshipara in Sonatala upazila in Bogura district. Babul was accused in cases filed over the murder of garment worker Mehedi Hasan.
Ashulia police station Officer-in-Charge Sheikh Rezaul Haq Dipu said, acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 1:30am.
He said, sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Babul and his associates opened fire on the police. In retaliation, the police fired back.
Then the police arrested the injured Babul and took him to Savar upazila health complex, where doctors declared him dead.
Mehedi was killed after his abduction, and seven of his body parts were recovered from a refrigerator in a house few days ago, police said.
