US for fair, participatory polls in Bangladesh

Dhaka, Dec 19 (Just News): The United States has reiterated its desire to see a fair, credible, participatory and peaceful election in Bangladesh on December 30.

Earl R Miller, the newly appointed US ambassador in Bangladesh, conveyed the message at a programme in a Dhaka hotel today.

“You must assure, you must avoid and you must condemn violence. Violence only undermines the democratic process,” he underlined.

He suggested the government for using the democratic process during the election and after the election as well.

The ambassador was addressing a meeting of businessmen at a regular luncheon of American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh.

Miller also conveyed his commitment to increase business relationship with Bangladesh. “In the next three years, I hope to see more American companies engaging in Bangladesh and more Bangladeshi companies engaging with the US.”
