If you resist, you’re Bangladesh

Dhaka, Dec 29 (Just News): Jatiya Oikyafront convener Dr Kamal Hossain has reiterated his call for voters to participate in tomorrow’s national election and restore democracy.

“Vote tomorrow. Don’t let them intimidate you. Evil forces will flee before you. They can’t fight people’s strength,” Dr Kamal said in a press conference.

Urging the young voters to go to voting centres early in the morning to vote, he said: “If you fear, you're finished. If you resist, you're Bangladesh.”

“There should have been a festive atmosphere surrounding the election. But it is not so, and the voters are in fear. It’s the need of the hour to remove this apprehension,” he said.

He also urged all election officers to perform their duties honestly and the Election Commission and its officials to ensure people’ voting right.

‘Returning officers, assistant returning officers and others involved in the election activities are respected persons. If you discharge your duties properly, it’ll increase your dignity. The success of your duties will be determined by the smile on the faces of voters,’ he said.

Kamal further said, ‘If you snatch anyone’s right, remember that someone else is taking away the right of your father, mother, wife and children. If you do this, people, history and the law won’t forgive you.’

Claiming that people have much fear and apprehensions in their mind over the election, Kamal said this needs to be removed. ‘Now there should have been a festivity, but there’re much fear and apprehension in public mind,’ he said.

Bangladesh goes to 11th parliamentary elections from 8:00am to 4:00pm on Sunday without any break amid tight security.
