Garment workers blocked Dhaka-Aricha highway for two and a half hours on Monday following an assault on a fellow worker by a allegedly by City Corporation employee.
They also vandalised several vehicles, including a vehicle of City Corporation carrying garbage, in Aminbazar Turag area.
Witnesses said a vehicle carrying garment workers and a City Corporation vehicle hit each other in the morning, leading to an altercation.
At one stage of altercation, a City Corporation employee hit a female garment worker, leaving her injured.
Angered by the incident, her co-workers put up barricade on the highway disrupting vehicular movement for two and a half hours.
Later, police brought the situation under control.
