7 including 6 of a family killed in Laxmipur crash

Seven people including six members of a family were killed as a truck hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Laxmipur Sadar upazila early today.

The incident took place on Laxmipur-Chandraganj highway in Ratanpur area around 5:00am, said Shahjahan Khan, inspector of Chandraganj Highway Police.

The deceased were Shah Alam, 45, his wife Nasima Akhter, 38, his sister Rokeya Begum, 29, mother Shamsunnahar, 60, son Rubel, 17, grandchild Amit, 3, all hailing from Noakhali’s Begumganj and the CNG-run vehicle driver Nuru, 38.

Shah Alam’s other son Nadin Mahmud, 21, was stabbed by miscreants in the wee hours and taken to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital.

They were all heading to the hospital to visit Nadin when the road crash befell them. Their bodies were taken to the hospital last reported.
