2 killed in gunfight between drug peddlers in Cox’s Bazar

Two alleged drug peddlers were killed in a reported infighting between two groups of drug dealers in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar early today.

The deceased were identified as Md Rafiq, 55, of Jhimangkhali and Delwar Hossain Rubel, 20, of Whaikhyang union, our Cox’s Bazar correspondent reports quoting police.

Both of them were involved in illegal drug trading, police said.

Two feuding groups of drug peddlers locked into an armed battle in Noyapara Battali area of Whaikhyang union during the wee hours of today, said ABMS Dwoha, officer-in-charge of Teknaf Model Police Station.

On information, a police team rushed to the spot but the criminals fled the scene sensing their presence, said the OC.

Two persons were found shot dead on the spot, the police official said adding a stash of yaba pills and two Light Guns were also recovered from there.

The bodies were sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
