Man killed in Cox’s Bazar ‘gunfight’

A man was killed in what the law enforcers called a gunfight between two gangs in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar early Tuesday, reports UNB.

Police identified the deceased as Shahabuddin, 25, son of Abdur Rahim, resident of Nunchhari village in Kolmarchhora union.

A police team went to the hilly area of Shaplar Ful union in the upazila in the morning after learning about the gunfight and recovered the body, said Probash Chandra Dhar, officer-in-charge of Maheshkhali police station.

Four firearms were also recovered from the site of the 'gunfight', he said.

Shahabuddin was accused in a number of criminal cases, the OC added.

Our correspondent, however, could not verify the law enforcement’s version of the incident independently as no version of it was available immediately either from any witness or from any member of the victim’s family.
