Three people were killed after a microbus caught fire following a collision on Dhaka-Chattogram highway in Chattogram’s Mirsarai upazila today.
The deceased were primarily identified as Abdur Rahman, his wife Bibi Kulsum, and their driver whose identity could not be ascertained immediately.
Three other passengers of the microbus were being whisked off to Chattogram Medical College Hospital when our local staff correspondent last reported.
The Chattogram-bound microbus rammed into a covered van from behind and caught fire. The incident took place in Nizampur area around 7:30am.
Jashimuddin, assistant director of local Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed The Daily Star of the deaths and the status of those injured.
Jurarganj Highway Police Outpost in-Charge Sohel Sarker told The Daily Star, suspicions are that the gas cylinder of the microbus exploded during collision.
