Bangladesh government has nominated 12 eminent personalities and one organisation for the Independence Award 2019.
The recipients are — martyred intellectual Mofazzal Haydar Chowdhury (posthumous), martyred war hero ATM Jafar Alam (posthumous), AKM Mozammel Haque, Mosharraf Hossain, Kazi Misbahun Nahar, Abdul Khaleque (posthumous), and Mohammad Khaled (posthumous) for independence and liberation war, Brigadier General Nurunnahar Fatema Begum for medical science, Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad for social service, Murtaja Baseer for cultural activity, Hasan Azizul Haque for literature, Hasina Khan for research and training and Bangladesh Institute of Nuclear Agriculture for science and technology.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to confer the award on the recipients at a function at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre on March 25, 2019, a cabinet division press release said on Sunday.
