HC asks for case record on photographer Shahidul Alam

The High Court today called for the record of the case filed against internationally-acclaimed photographer Shahidul Alam under the controversial section 57 of the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Act.

The officials concerned have been asked to produce the case record before the HC by today, Shahidul lawyer Barrister Sara Hossain told The Daily Star this morning.

The HC bench of Justice Sheikh Hassan Arif and Justice Justice Razik-Al-Jalil passed he the order during hearing a writ petition filed by Shahidul challenging the proceedings of the case.

The court fixed tomorrow for further hearing on the writ petition.

Shahidul Alam filed the writ petition on March 4.

In the petition he appealed for staying the proceedings of the case.

The petition said that the case was filed against him “in violation of his fundamental rights and by abusing of the process.”
