Two people were killed and 15 others injured in a clash between two factions of Awami League at Baluchar village in Raipura upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Iqbal Miah, 27, son of Ahsan Miah, and Aman Miah, 30, son of Robi Miah.
Police said the supporters of local AL leader Faruqul Islam Faruq attacked houses of the supporters of Mirzarchar UP Chairman Zafor Iqbal Manik, also union Jubo League president, and opened fire, leaving 17 people, including four with bullets, injured.
Among the injured, Iqbal Miah and Aman died on the way to Sadar Hospital.
Confirming the incident, Mozaffar Hossain, inspector (operation) of Raipura Police Station, said that additional police have been deployed in the area.
