At least eight people including a minor were killed and several others injured in a road accident on Chattogram-Cox's Bazar Highway at Lohagara upazila tonight.
The fatal accident took place as a bus of Relex Paribahan and a microbus collided head-on at Jaillar Tek in Chunti area of the upazila around 1:00am.
Five males, two females and a child were killed on the spot when a Cox's Bazar-bound Relex Paribahan collided head-on with Chattogram-bound microbus, Inspector Md Alamgir, In-charge of Chunti Police Outpost, told.
All the deceased were the passengers of the microbus. It could not be confirmed whether they are family members or not, the police official said.
Being informed, police and fire Service personnel rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies and sent several injured to the hospital, he said.
