Police tonight detained Tasbirul Islam, one of the owners of FR Tower in Banani, from his Baridhara residence in Dhaka.
Islam is also the president of Kurigram district unit BNP and the managing director of Quasem Drycells Limited.
The detention was made at 10:45pm in connection to a case filed over Thursday’s fire incident in which 26 people died and many injured, said MD Shahjahan, additional deputy commissioner of Detective Branch.
The detainee claimed that he is the owner of the top three floors (20th, 21st and 22nd) of the building, the police official said.
Earlier in the day, police filed the case with Banani Police Station.
