FR Tower fire: Survivors recounting horror to probe bodies

The separate government probe bodies formed to investigate Thursday’s Banani FR Tower fire are hearing the accounts of those survived the inferno.

So far, six survivors have narrated their horrific experiences and how they survived the blaze that ripped through the 22-storey Faruque-Rupayan Tower, Tarun Kanti Shikder, convener of the six-member body formed by the Home Ministry, said around 11:00am.

Today, the probe teams will take the testimony of the persons who were on the eighth, ninth and 10th floors of the building, he said.

Two separate probe committees have been formed by the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief and Ministry of Home to unearth the reason behind the fire incident.

At least 26 people were killed in a deadly blaze in the building on Thursday. Fire safety experts found that the commercial high rise lacked any safe fire exit.

The Banani fire incident came following the last month's Chawkbazar fire tragedy that claimed the lives of 71 people.
