A minor boy and two women were killed in Noakhali, Bhola and Bagerhat districts on Friday night as cyclone ‘Fani’ lashed the southwestern part of the country.
In Noakhali, a minor boy was killed as a tree collapsed on him at Char AminulHaque village in Subarnacharupazilaaround 10:30pm.
The deceased was identified as Md Ismail, 2, son of AbdurRahman.
Besides, around 30 people were injured and hundreds of houses at Char Wapda and Char Jabbar unions were damaged during the storm, said IqbalHasan, upazila project implementation of Subarnacharupazila control room.
The injured were taken to Subarnacharupazila Health complex.
In Bhola, housewife Rani Begum was killed as a house collapsed on her at Poraliavillage in Sadarupazila at night.
Besides, the cyclonic storm damaged several hundred houses and uprooted trees and electric poles.
In Chandpur, at least 50 houses atShilar char, Khaskandi, Majher char, Monder bazar villages and eight shops at Monder Bazar inSadarUpazila were damaged in the storm, said Sadarupazilanirbahi officerKanizFatema.
Besides, at least five people were injured.
Meanwhile, around 40 dwelling houses were damaged in different char areas when Fani swept over the areas at 3.45 am, said UNO HaimcharFerdousi Begum.
In Chandpur, at least 50 houses at Shilar char, Khaskandi, Majher char, Monder bazar village and eight shops at Monder Bazar in SadarUpazila were damaged in the storm, said Sadarupazilanirbahi officerKanizFatema.
Besides, five people were alsoinjured.
Meanwhile, 40 dwelling houses were destroyed in different char areas when Fani swept over the area at 3.45 am, said UNO of HaimcharFerdousi Begum.
In Bagerhat, Shaninur Begum, 35, wife of Mozahar, was killed as a tree collapsed on her in Sadar upazila at night, said Md Jahirul, additional deputy commissioner of Bagerhat.
Nasir Ahmed, upazila project implementation of Sharankhola, said that cracks have been developed at three points in the embankment of Baleshwar river in the upazila.
Besides, 150 meters embankment from Bogi to Gabtola was damaged which flooded Gabtola, Chaltabunia and Dakhshin Southkhali villages in the upazila.
