78 face arrest warrants over question paper leaks

A court in Dhaka on Wednesday issued warrants for the arrest of 78 people, including a number of students of Dhaka University (DU), over the question paper leakage during different recruitment and admission tests.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sorafuzzaman Ansari passed the order after taking cognisance of a charge-sheet submitted against the accused in a case filed over the matter.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Criminal Investigation Department (CID), also the investigation officer of the case, prayed to the court to issue the arrest warrants as the 78 accused in the case did not appear before it.

The court asked Shahbagh police to submit a compliance report on July 30.

On June 23, the CID submitted a charge-sheet against 125 people, including 87 students of Dhaka University (DU), in connection with the question paper leakage at different recruitment and admission examinations, including that of DU, BCS and bank.

Of them, 78 have been on the run while the rest 47 are out on bail.

During investigation, it was found that members of the question paper leaking syndicate used to collect questions from the printing press before the beginning of exams.

Then other members of the syndicate provided answers to the questions through digital devices several minutes before the start of exams.
