A Dhaka court on Tuesday rejected bail prayer of Khandaker Enamul Basir, suspended director of the Anti-Corruption Commission, and sent him to jail in a bribery case.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judges Court passed the order.
Advocate Md Kabir Hossain stood for Basir while lawyer Mosharat Hossain represented the ACC.
ACC arrested Enamul on Monday from his Darus Salam residence in the city for taking bribe from police's deputy inspector general Mizanur Rahman.
A private TV channel reported recently that Mizan gave Tk 40 lakh to Enamul to get clean chit in a corruption case.
On July 16, ACC director Sheikh Fanafillah Bawas filed the case with the ACC’s Dhaka District Coordination Office-1.
Enamul was suspended on June 10 for allegedly leaking information, a breach of his job discipline.
