Two more people infected with mosquito-borne dengue died in Dhaka and Faridpur districts on Monday.
In Dhaka, Jewel Mahmud Nayan, 38, a local trader and son of Dalil Uddin in Dhamrai upazila, died of dengue at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar in the afternoon, said its physician Dr Rezaul Karim.
Victim’s wife said Nayan was admitted to Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex on Thursday with fever and shifted to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in the capital after he was diagnosed with dengue.

owever, for lack of seats, he was taken to Enam Medical College Hospital on Saturday, she said, adding that he died while undergoing treatment at the intensive care unit of the hospital.
In Faridpur, Selim Biswash, 40, who used to run a garage of vehicles in the capital, died in the early hours, a day after he returned home at Dangi village in Charbhadrason upazila with fever.
Selim, son of Kadam Biswash of the village, fell sick on Thursday, said his relatives.
Having no response after taking medicines, he returned home on Sunday afternoon.
After his platelet count was found to be 120,000 per microlitre of blood after test at a local diagnostic centre, he was admitted to Faridpur Sadar Hospital, said his wife.
Selim died while undergoing treatment at the hospital, she said.
Meanwhile, some 1,096 people suffering from dengue fever were hospitalised across the country in the last 24 hours till 8 am on Monday, showing a gradual rise in the number of such patients over the last several days.
According to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the number of dengue patients was 824 on Sunday while 683 on Saturday, 603 on Friday and 547 on Thursday.
The dengue has now spread to 50 districts of the country.
Currently, 3,847 dengue patients are being treated in hospitals across the country.
From January 1 till the date, there have been 13,637 confirmed dengue cases.
Eight of them have died as per the government’s count although the unofficial death toll is much higher. The latest death was also not included in the official figure.
