BCL leader prosecuted for attempted snatch of goats

A case was filed with Mohammadpur police station against Bangladesh Chhatra League Mohammadpur unit’s former president and eight others of his followers on August 11 on charge of attempted snatch of 212 goats.

Cattle trader Saiful Islam filed the case against the ruling Awami League-backed student body former thana unit president Mujahid Azmi Tanna, police officials said.

In the complaint, the cattle trader alleged that a group of cattle traders brought 212 goats from Jashore and Jhenaidah on August 11 and the local ruling party leaders confined them with their track at Jahuri Mahalla on Babar Road of Muhammadpur and demanded money.

On information, an executive magistrate of the Rapid Action Battalion-2 rushed to the stop and rescued the cattle traders and detained three suspected extortionists identified the cattle traders.

The battalion handed the detained three to Mohammadpur police stations and the three later named six others.

Mohammad police station inspector (operation) Shariful Islam said that two cases were filed and they were conducting operations to arrest rest of the suspects was underway.
