1,251 more hospitalized for dengue in 24hrs   

 

A total of 1,251 dengue patients have been admitted to different hospitals across Bangladesh in the last 24 hours.

Among them, 577 patients were admitted in Dhaka, and 674 in districts outside Dhaka.

Dengue, a mosquito-borne virus, spreads among humans through its carrier Aedes mosquito.

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in a press release issued on Monday, said the number of admitted patients currently undergoing treatment in government and private hospitals combined is 5,562.

A total 52 dengue patients have died across Bangladesh from January 1 till August 26, according to their own collected data. However, the unofficial death toll is reported to be over 112, so far.

A total of 3,081 patients are currently receiving treatment in different government and private hospitals in Dhaka, whereas a total of 2,481 people are undergoing treatment outside Dhaka, the release said.

Since January 1 till August 26, a total of 64,765 people have been affected by dengue.

Among those admitted, a total of 59,030 have been released from their respective hospitals and clinics after treatment.
