One more dies of dengue, 716 hospitalised

A 23-year-old housewife died of dengue in Rajshahi on Monday and at least 716 new dengue patients were hospitalised across the country over the last 24 hours ending Monday morning.

Now, 3,091 dengue patients are in hospitals and clinics across the country, 1,522 of them in the capital and 1,569 in the outlying districts.

Of the new dengue patients, 300 were hospitalized in the capital and 416 in the districts, according to the control room of the Directorate General of Health Services.

So far this year at least 77,230 dengue patients were hospitalized across the country.

On Monday, housewife Shapla Khatun died of dengue at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, reports our Rajshahi University correspondent.

She was wife of Hasibul Islam of Baneshwar area of Puthiya upazila.

RMCH deputy director Saiful Fedous told New Age that Shapla was admitted to the hospital with dengue on September 4.

She was shifted to the insensitive care unit on Monday morning where she died at 11:30am, he added.

Since January, the Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research received reports that possibly 197 dengue patients died.
