RAB arrests killers of 5th grader in Rangpur  

 

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested the prime suspect and another connected with the murder of a 5th grader, who was killed on August 29, in Rangpur.

RAB-13 Commanding Officer (CO) Commander Reza Ferdous confirmed the matter at a press briefing at the battalion’s headquarters in the city on Tuesday.

The prime accused, Mozaffer Hosain, and his accomplice, Joy, were arrested on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

During the arrest, one foreign pistol and two rounds were seized from Mozaffer.

On August 29, the 5th grader Abdur Rashid, 11, was severely injured after he was hacked by Mozaffer and his men at the city’s Textile Moor area. Later, they threw him under a moving bus which killed him.

Following the murder, Rashid’s father Shahidar Rahman of Satgara Mistri Para of the city filed a murder case at the Kotwali police station.

The deceased’s elder brother Mohon said: “A few days back, a local criminal named Mozaffer Hossain tried to extort Tk500 from me which I refused to give and complained the matter to his father, Kamal,”

“They killed my brother as revenge,” he said.

Rashid’s aunt Nazma Begum said: “I was crossing the area at the time of the incident and saw Mozaffer and his associates hack Rashid. I ran to save him but the miscreants pushed me away.

“They brutally killed Rashid by throwing him in front of a moving bus.”
