A section of government primary school teachers have threatened for a strike demanding immediate upgradation of the headmaster and headmistress grades.
The teachers under the banner of Bangladesh Prathamik Shikkhak Samity on Friday said that if the authorities did not meet the demand by September 30, they would go for countrywide strike from October 1.
The organisation held a press conference at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity in the capital.
The platform president Md Atiqur Rahman Atiq said that they were demanding grade 10 status for the head-masters and mistresses in government primary schools since long. They were presently in grade 12 status.
They also demanded grade 11 status for the assistant teachers who were given grade 14.
Atiq also threatened for a countrywide teachers’ strike by boycotting classes if their demands were not met by the given timeline.
