BNP slams govt for barriers to holding councils

The government is putting up barriers to holding councils of BNP at the grassroots level, BNP senior leader Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain alleged today.

"We have decided to hold councils at the district and upazila levels to reorganise our party, but we have learnt that we're not being allowed to hold the council,” he said.

Mosharraf, a BNP standing committee member, came up with the remarks while speaking at a human chain in front of the Jatiya Press Club arranged by Swadhinata Forum demanding release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia from jail.

Yesterday, a Dhaka court issued an ad-interim injunction on holding the council of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student body of BNP, following a case filed by Md Aman Ullah Aman, a former assistant religious affairs secretary of JCD.
