Rapid Action Battalion busted a torture cell of Jubo League leader Khalid Mahmud Bhuiyan at a building near Kamalapur Railway Station early today.
The members of the elite force also recovered different torture equipment, Yaba and wine from the torture cell at Estern Kamalapur Commercial Complex, hours after Khalid was arrested for running a casino in Fakirerpool.
Rab sources, wishing not to be named, said Khalid used the cell to torture people who would not pay him the money he demands.
During the drive, the elite force members recovered two electric shock machines, five sticks, 190 Yaba tablets, five cans of beer, 700 grams of lead, three mobiles, two laptops, and cash Tk 23, 500.
Meanwhile, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said the will take action after investigating the incident.
“I heard that (torture cell). Action will be taken based on investigation,” he told reporters responding to query this afternoon.
