Dhaka, Jan 17 (Just News): The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested a senior assistant secretary in connection with embezzlement Tk 5 crore of government money during his tenure as district land acquisition officer in Kishoreganj land office.
Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB that Barisal Divisional and District Coordinated had arrested Setaful Islam from in front of Pirojpur Circuit House on Wednesday at 6.20 am.
"He was transferred Setora from Kishoregonj on December 3 last year while the accused is currently working in Pirojpur who joined December 13 as the district land acquisition officer. He has been kept at Pirojpur Sadar Police Station," he said.
ACC Assistant Director Ramprasad Mandal (Mymensingh Coordinated Area) filed a case against him with Kishoreganj Sadar Police Station on Wednesday before conducting the drive to arrest Setaful.
An officer will look into the matter further and conduct a final investigation while the Cabinet Division (Immigration) imposed a ban by sending letters to the different ministries.
