Residential Model student dies from electrocution

A ninth grader of Dhaka Residential Model College has died by electrocution on the school premises yesterday.

The ill-fated boy got entangled in electric wire at around 3:30pm on Friday (Nov 1), said police.
The deceased has been identified as Naimul Abrar.

The incident occurred at the school premises during an event organised by Kishor Alo, a publication meant for the young readers of Bangla language daily Prothom Alo.

“The school boy, Naimul Abrar, was electrocuted during a programme of monthly Kishore Alo around 3.30pm in the day. Two specialist physicians of the emergency medical camp at the programme gave Naimul primary treatment after which he was rushed to Aysha Memorial Specialised Hospital in Mohakhali. The physicians there declared him dead,” Mohammadpur police SI Moazzem Hossain told Bangla Tribune.

“Later, we transferred the body to the family without post-mortem examination on their request,” added SI Moazzem.

The hospital sources also confirmed his death.

Kishor Alo Editor Anisul Hoque expressed deep shock over the death of Abrar in a media release.
