MP Bubly expelled for cheating in exam

Tamanna Nusrat Bubly, a lawmaker for reserved seats for women, who had made headlines for cheating in degree test, was expelled Friday by the Awami League.

District Awami League President and MP from Sadar-1 constituency Md Nurul Islam Hiru (Bir Pratik) confirmed the matter to UNB after a meeting at the party’s office in the afternoon.

In October, Bangladesh Open University expelled Bubly after cancelling her registration and examinations for using proxy.

The widow of former Narsingdi municipality mayor and Awami League leader Lokman Hossain was elected an MP from the reserved seats for women earlier this year.

Bubly, who has a Higher Secondary Certificate, got admitted to BOU’s BA course.

According to media reports, she had sent other people to eight exams as proxy candidates while she stayed in Dhaka. One of them was caught red-handed.
