Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Kaiser sent to jail

A Dhaka court today sent BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's lawyer Kaiser Kamal to jail after rejecting both the bail and the remand prayers in the case filed over an alleged extramarital affair with the wife of a lawyer.

Metropolitan Magistrate Debbrata Biswas passed the order after Md Awlad Hossain, sub-inspector of Kalabagan Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before it with a three-day remand prayer.

The court, however, allowed police to interrogate Kaiser Kamal for a day at the jail gate.

Kalabagan police on Wednesday arrested Kaiser Kamal near the Square Hospital in Panthapath after the case was filed against him.

According to the prosecution, it was alleged that Barrister Atiqur Rahman said he spotted his wife entering Kaiser’s car on Wednesday evening.

Atiqur got into a heated argument with Kaiser as an enthusiastic mob gathered around them. Later, police arrived at the spot and took Kaiser to the police station.

Atiqur stated in the complaint that Kaiser had been having an affair with his wife since February 8 of last year when Khaleda was convicted in the Zia Orphanage Trust case.
