Day labourers demand price reduction of commodity

Day labourers, under the banner of ‘Amra Sadharon Janagan’, on Sunday held a sit in programme in Dhaka’s Karwan Bazar area to press home their six-point demand that includes price reduction of onion, vegetables, rice and other commodities.

They sought the prime minister’s intervention in this regard and claimed a vested interested quarters was behind the price hike of the commodities, said a press release signed by the platform’s convener Firoza Begum.

Their six-point demand also includes — price reduction of the daily commodities, establishment of good governance, freedom of judiciary, reduction of traffic jam, ensuring right to vote and human rights.

Ganosamhati Andolan convener Zonayed Saki and Bacchu Bhuiyan, president of Bangladesh Cooperative Labourer and Hawker Society, among others, addressed the programme.
