Health minister claims not infected with coronavirus

Health minister Zahid Maleque in an online press briefing on Sunday said that he was not infected with COVID-19.

‘I have been tested negative. As a result, I do not need to be quarantined. I am working like the others,’ he added.

While answering a journalist regarding the preparation to tackle the situation in Bangladesh, he said that the government started taking preparation since January.

‘Hospitals in and outside Dhaka have been prepared, along with safety measures taken for the doctors. That is why the number of infected people is so less in the country,’ Zahid Maleque said.

Regarding chances to extend the public holiday, the minister said that it would be decided after analysing the situation.
