Prof Muntasir Mamun, a veteran historian, was admitted to Mugda Medical College and Hospital in the city on Sunday evening with respiratory problems.
Dr Mahbubur Rahman, focal person of the hospital’s Covid-19 response team, confirmed UNB about his admission, saying he was not doing well.
“We’re trying to take him to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as soon as possible,” he said shortly after midnight.
Muntasir Mamun is a professor (Bangabandhu Chair) at the History department of Dhaka University.
