Huge crowd of passengers heading towards southern parts of Bangladesh ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr were seen at Shimulia ferry terminal on Shimulia- Kathalbari route on Saturday.
Mawa river police outpost in-charge Sirajul Kabir said that passenger heading towards Dhaka and the southern parts crowded since morning.
Over 500 small transports were waiting at Shimulia ferry terminal including goods-laden trucks, cars, microbuses, ambulances, and motor cycles.
Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation Shimulia terminal deputy general manager Md Shafiqul Islam said that three Ro-Ro ferries, four dumb ferries, and six k-type ferries were in operation on the route.
