Eighteen people including a policeman and an official of Palli Bidyut Samity were infected with coronavirus as of Saturday, raising the total number of cases to 295 in Sylhet district.
Himangshu Lal Roy, deputy director of Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital, said they found 18 people infected after testing 180 samples.
Among the newly infected people, five are from Gopalganj upazila, six from Sadar upazila, three from Jakiganj, two from Bishwanat, and one each from Jaintaipur and Dakkhin Surma upazilas, he added.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Sylhet division is now 626. Off them, 295 are from Sylhet, 92 from Sunamganj, 156 from Habiganj and 83 from Moulvibazar.
Among the total infection, 159 people made full recovery in Sylhet division.
The division has so far reported 12 coronavirus deaths.
The number of coronavirus cases in the country has been rising alarmingly as the health authorities reported the highest new coronavirus cases- 1,873 in the last 24hours until Saturday morning.
Bangladesh has so far reported 32,078 coronavirus cases and 452 deaths.
