The Met office has advised the four maritime ports of the country to hoist local warning signal number 3 as they are likely to be affected by stormy weather caused by steep pressure gradient and the moon phase.

Bangladesh Meteorological Department, in a warning message to the government and the ports on Monday, advised the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Baza, Mongla, and Payra to hoist the local warning signal number.

According to the message, under the influence of steep pressure gradient and the moon phase, the low-lying areas of the coastal districts of Satkhira, Khulna, Bagherhat, Jhalokathi, Pirozpur, Borguna, Patuakhali, Bhola, Barishal, Laxmipur, Chandpti, Noakiiali, Feni, Chattogram, Cox's Bazar and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by the surge height of 2- 4 feet above normal astronomical tide.

The message also advised all fishing boats and trawlers over north bay to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
