BNP leader Habibun Nabi Khan detained in Dhaka

Dhaka, Feb 6 (Just News) :Police detained Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP President Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel in the early hours of Tuesday.

Akhteruzzaman Bacchu, personal assistant to the BNP leader, said Habibun Nabi, who is also the joint secretary general of the party, was detained by police at Malibagh area at about 2:45am.

Akhteruzzaman said Detective Branch (DB) police held Sohel at Malibagh when he was returning from Sylhet. Habibun Nabi Khan accompanied Khaleda Zia during her daylong visit to Sylhet on Monday.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said members of Detective Branch of police picked up Sohel around 4:30am.

‘We don’t know Sohel’s whereabouts and strongly protest the detention’, he said.

‘We demand immediate release of Sohel’, he added.

However, DB officials did not say anything about the arrest.

Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel was recently sued in three cases filed over launching attack on law enforcers at High Court intersection on January 30.
