Juba League expels two leaders over attack on Ghorahat UNO

Juba League, the youth wing of Awami League, has expelled two of its Ghoraghat unit leaders.

The decision had been taken hours after the police arrested them on Friday in connection with the attack on Dinajpur Ghoraghat upazila nirbahi officer Wahida Khanam.

The expelled Juba League leaders are Jahangir Alam, a convener, and Asadul Haq, a member, said a press release of the organisation.

Central Juba League general secretary Mainul Hossain Nikhil said that they had expelled the duo over the attack on Wahida.

Wahida Khanam, Ghoraghat UNO, was critically injured in an attack by assailants at her home on the upazila parishad premises early Thursday.

Her father Omar Ali was also injured in the attack. They were taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital and then Wahida was airlifted to Dhaka.

The police and Rapid Action Battalion detained three suspects in overnight raids in this connection.

Physicians at National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital said that Wahida’s condition was stable and she regained her senses.
