AL’s political field won’t be secure after ‘cruelty’ shown to Khaleda Zia: BNP

Dhaka, Jun 10 (Just News): Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Sunday warned that political field of the ruling party would not be calm, and secure because of the government’s ‘cruel’ attitude towards imprisoned party chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party’s central office issued the warning.

He urged the party leaders and activists to remain alert to the government’s ‘conspiracy’ over Khaleda’s sickness.

The BNP leader said the nationalist force would take to the streets for strong movement in short time if Khaleda is not released and her treatment not arranged immediately.

He said home minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Saturday said that the jail authority was not informed about Khaleda’s collapsing in her cell in the jail on June 5.

The home minister’s statement made it clear how much negligence is being made over treatment and illness of Khaleda Zia who has been sent in old Dhaka Central Jail in old Dhaka on February 8 in a graft case by a special judge’s court sentencing to five years in jail.

Rizvi said the home minister spoke about treatment of seriously ailing Khaleda at ‘PG’ hospital instead of admitting to a specialised hospital of her choice.

The recommendations made by personal specialised physicians of Khaleda Zia for conducting those tests those are not possible to do at the ‘PG’ ( Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University), he said.

All arrangements of modern equipment remained in United Hospital in Dhaka, he added.

The senior joint secretary general cautioned that the government would have bear responsibility if any major harm happened to Khaleda for not providing her in a specialised hospital immediately.

He demanded of quickly admitting Khaleda Zia to the United Hospital and releasing her from jail before Eid.
