Over 400 leaders, activists arrested in a week: BNP

Dhaka, Sep 4 (Just News): Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Tuesday alleged that leaders and activists of the party and its front and associate organisations had been arrested indiscriminately across the country in a week filing cases under Special Act.

BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi at a news briefing at the party's central office claimed that police arrested nearly over 400 leaders and activists of the party across the country in last few days.

Cases were being filed against the party leaders and activists by the government staging act of sabotage like incidents, he said.

Rizvi said the government was suffering from panic, saying it now gave final bite through arresting and filing false cases against BNP leaders and activists.

He said leaders and activists were being implicated in cases bringing allegation of sabotage. Old cases against them were also being revived, he added.

Types of allegations were same, so there was no doubt that the cases were planned, he said.
