BNP wants to meet home minister over Khaleda Zia’s health issue

Dhaka, Sep 7 (Just News): BNP has sought schedule to meet Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on September 9 to talk about the health condition of the party’s imprisoned Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Seeking the home minister’s schedule, Khaleda Zia’s personal secretary ABM Sattar sent a letter to the home ministry on September 6.

A 10-member delegation led by the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir wants to meet the home minister on the day.

The BNP chief has been staying at the old Dhaka central jail in the capital’s Nazimuddin Road after she was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case on February 8 this year.

Khaleda Zia has received bail in the Zia Orphanage Trust corruption case, but several courts ordered her arrest in different cases on various charges including arson and vandalism, instigating violence, defamation and distortion of history.
