BNP demands stopping hearing in Khaleda Zia’s absence

Dhaka, Sep 21 (Just News): The Bangladesh Nationalist Party on Friday asked all concerned to stop hearing in the Zia Charitable Trust case in a court set up inside jail in absence if the party's jailed ailing chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

The party also called for for immediately making arrangements for proper medical treatment of Khaleda.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir flanked by the party's standing committee members at a news briefing at Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office made the demand.

He said the court that holding trial of Khaleda Zia inside the jail in a case issued an order on Thursday that from now the hearing of the case would continue even in absence of her.

Fakhrul termed the order 'unlawful' contrary to 'justice' and 'fundamental' rights.

He said BNP could not 'accept the order' and it should be changed.

Stranding committee members including Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Moudud Ahmed, Abdul Moyeen Khan, Nazrul Islam Khan and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury were present.
