Dhaka, Dec 18 (Just News) : BNP vowed to scrap all black laws including the Digital Security Act, Official Secrets Act and Special Power Acts to facilitate freedom of speech and expression.
It said it will not gag dissenting voice and will lift restrictions on social media to let people speak freely and will ensure unhindered criticism of political leaders and the activities.
And it will remove all barriers to freedom of information by amending the Right to Information Act.
BNP unveiled its election manifesto today, putting major emphasis on pledges of freedom of speech and abolishing “black laws” of the country.
The main opposition party pledged to ensure freedom of speech and withdraw online vigilance to safeguard public right to opinion on the internet.
The party also vowed to put an end to extrajudicial killing, enforced disappearances, and inhumane physical and mental torture.
Additionally, it pledged to open the field for “logical” criticisms of political personalities.
Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, secretary general of the opposing political party, unveiled BNP’s charter of promises at the party’s Nayapaltan central office.
