Dhaka, Dec 21 (Just News): Jatiya Oikya Front leaders’ motorcade has been obstructed in Madanpur intersection of Narayanganj on their way to an election rally in Bandar Sonakanda.
A group of ruling Awami League men allegedly intercepted the motorcade carrying BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Oikya Front leaders Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Zafrullah Chowdhury, among others, around 3:30pm on Friday, according to witnesses.
This led to a halt on Dhaka-Chittagong highway for around half an hour, they added.
The locals also said the AL activists led by Madanpur union parishad chairman Abdus Salam and AL’s student wing Bangladesh Chhatra League’s Madanpur vice president Ohidul blocked Dhaka-Chittagong highway for around 30 minutes by setting fire to wood and bamboos on the highway to intercept the motorcade.
Asked about this, Abdus Salam said that he does not know about this. “But, the locals might block the road over their internal feud,” he added.
The Oikya Front leaders, however, managed to reach the rally venue with the help of police.
