“I was told not to campaign”

Dhaka, Dec 25 (Just News): BNP candidate for Dhaka-9 constituency Afroza Abbas has alleged that he was told by the administration not to campaign.

“I am not campaigning on Tuesday as I was told from the administration not to campaign,” Afroza told the media during a briefing held at her residence.

Alleging regular attacks on their campaigns, she said, “Everyday we are being attacked as we go out to campaign despite the fact that we are informing the Sabujbagh police and the Election Commission about our programs in advance.”

“Likewise, I informed the authorities today (Dec 25) and they have told me that they won’t be able to take any responsibilities,” she said before adding, “The suggested against running our campaign today because my opponent candidate Saber Hossain Chowdhury will campaign in the area.”

Afrosa Abbas said that she then contacted Khilgaon police who advised the same citing a planned procession by Jubo League in the area.

“If the administration cannot ensure our security, they how should we campaign,” she asked.
She also alleged that they are not being able to put up their posters or banners.
